Estimated Number of Inbound Visitors to Japan (November 2024)
November: 3,187,000 visitors, exceeding 2019’s total and marking a record high.
- The number of inbound visitors to Japan in November was 3,187,000, representing a 30.6% increase compared to the same month last year and a 30.5% increase compared to November 2019, setting a new record for the month. The cumulative total for January to November reached 33,379,900, surpassing the previous all-time high annual total of 2019, making it the highest ever recorded.
- With the number of flights recovering to 2019 levels by the 2024 winter schedule, continued demand for inbound travel during the autumn foliage season drove visitor increases, particularly from China, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States, compared to the same month last year.
- From January to November, five markets (South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, and France) recorded their highest-ever cumulative totals as of November. In total, 16 markets have achieved record-high cumulative numbers for the year so far.
