Visitor Arrivals to Japan (Estimated Figures for October 2024): 3,312,000 visitors, Surpassing 30 Million Total Visitors for the Yearat Record Speed
- The number of visitor arrivals to Japan in October 2024 is estimated at 3,312,000, marking a 31.6% increase compared to the same month in the previous year and a 32.7% increase compared to October 2019. This figure surpasses the previous monthly record of 3,292,602 visitors in July 2024, setting a new all-time high for a single month. The cumulative total of visitors through October reached 30,192,600, exceeding 30 million at the fastest pace since statistics began in 1964.
- During the autumn foliage season, there was a notable increase in inbound demand across many markets. In East Asia, visitor numbers from China rose significantly, while in Southeast Asia, Singapore contributed to the growth. Likewise, in regions such as North America, Europe, Oceania, and the Middle East, the United States played a major role in boosting visitor numbers compared to the same month last year.
- For the cumulative total from January to October, in addition to the five markets that had already achieved record annual totals by September (Australia, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and the Middle East), another six markets set new all-time highs this month: Taiwan, the Philippines, India, the United States, Canada, and Spain.
